These three areas are founded by Sumatran traders named Nakhoda Nan Intan, Nakhoda Bayan, and Nakhoda Kecil.

Batu Uban got its name after a boulder somewhere in the sea between the mosque and Pulau Jerejak, which resembled a man with grey hair. Literally translated, Batu Uban means grey hair rock.

Bayan Lepas? Well, the founder, Nakhoda Bayan has a pet parakeet (burung bayan). The bird flew away from him. Hence, the name Bayan Lepas.

Jelutong? Well, Nakhoda Kecil saw a lot of Jelutong trees there.
